Hi everyone, well something strange happened to the New Dysons post (this happened once before at aw.org a few years back) and the server erased a bit of the post's own important embedded function codes. So we lost a few threads at the bottom of it. Since that thread is probably going to misbehave again, I closed it and opened this new thread for everyone to carry on the original New Dysons conversion.

Well, a little physics here!
Remember, that the more surface area of a bag you have, the less air goes through the bag at one area, thus, the bigger the bag, the less suction it will lose over a period of time. I love my Rainbow, but I feel as though it doesn't trap a lot of the dirt. I mean, with the water molecule being polar and wanting to attract statically charged objects, that is great, but I feel as though if I were to put a good piece of filter over the exhaust, I would see a lot of dirt. I will have to try that.

random thought
when i used my 5amp Hoover Guardsman on the heavy hotel rugs, it collected tons. so much so, that when i was finished with the two large rugs, the cloth shakeout bag was almost completely clogged. the suction was almost gone at the end. but by the time i got to that point, the cleaner had collected enough soil to fill the Dyson canister at least twice, i imagine, maybe more. here is a picture i posted on AW.org. this is what a Eureka collected. the more powerful Hoover collected more. how much volume in this dirt if whipped up in the Dyson dirtcup? id love the chance to really use a good Dyson. ![]() |

Wow, it exists in hotels too? The picture you posted is what I like to call "office dirt"; lots of it where I clean! It seems like there's an INFINITE supply of it in commercial settings, no matter how many passes you make. I hate office dirt with a passion and I'm pretty much convinced that whatever is used to pick it up will never have decent power again, unless the bag itself is vacuumed. Notorious for dirtying up machines, as it gets in every crack, crevice, etc. on the cleaner. This type of dirt would be perfect for a Dyson, IMHO. |

Hello
I tried out the Dyson DC17 Animal upright at Best Buy and I am very impressed! It has a 50% larger brushroll than the DC07s/DC14s. It has a 25% larger brushroll than the DC15s.

Hello
Is the Vacuum Cleaner Collector's Club going to upgrade to the Dyson DC17 for their state of the art machine for their annual conventions?

New Handle on Design?
It looks like the handle design has been tweaked on the newer Dysons. I have always thought that the handle on my DC14 was a bit awkward to use in the attachment mode. It looks like they've made a second, more substantial handgrip for attachment use. ![]() |

Also...
...why wasn't the new model called "DC16"? |

A missing model number usually means that the missing cleaner is still in development - the DC06 for instance, which hasn't been launched yet - or onsale abroad, like the DC12, which is a Japan-only model. |

I thought the DC16 was the handheld cleaner? I think so. Cause Dyson just launched 3 new vacuums. The dc16 hand vac, the dc17 improved Dyson, and the dc18 slim model (only in the UK...hopefully just for now...I wanna check it out).

Corey, you're right!
The DC16 is the new handheld cleaner. I should have looked more closedly at the Dyson Web site. |
