Hello!

Has anyone ever heard of a brand of vacs called Nilfisk? They seem VERY nice compared to other indurstiral vacs. For example, some can pick up mercury! Museum vacuums, I guess. They are very nice looking! Take a look at this website that offers them! I would say they compare to the prices of Air-Way. $600, I think?

Nilfisk also makes machines for home use. There is one link attached, and if you search on yahoo, you can find more info about them. Consumer Reports rated the Nilfisk back in 1996 (i think that was the last time they rated there machine) and it performed very well. I believe it was second only to the Miele white pearl. I have never used one but they seem like good machines. They look more like a commercial machine than a consumer vacuum. They are from Denmark and compete with other high end European machines like Miele and Lindhaus, who put a large emphasis on filtration.

I have 2 nilfisks in my collection I have the GS80 and the GS 90 both of them are really great vacs and do an awsome job of cleaning. In Fact Evan is the one who talked me into getting a nilfisk and I'm really glad he did talk me into the Nilfisks. He also has a couple of nilfisks in his collection as well. I would love to have a Nilfisk GS80-thought I could have gotten one-but it got away.Beautiful machines.One of the cleaning contractors here used one-"borrowed" it to clean out a transmitter-worked really well.

With the Eureka Power Nozzle. They do have good filtration but sooooo many filters that I can never remember how they all go in. You need instructions to change them all. Also, the power nozzle plugs in where the cord goes into the machine and therefore doesn't shut off with the machine. I never have used it because the cord always falls out of the machine when using. Being a European machine, the power nozzle is a after thought.

However, have a lovely straight suction floor tool very much like a Lux XXX only plastic (it flips over) and it converts to a bare floor tool as well. Very nice.

Weren't Nilfisk GS80 and 90 sold DTD at one time?And that 1940 Nilfisk so remembles the GS80 its uncanny.I wonder what sort of bag and filters that older one used-and will new bags and filters fit that older one?I also remember a catalog company-don't remember the name-sold the Nilfisk GS 80 and Koblentz uprights--"as the Ultimate" vacuums for your home"as the catalog ad copy said.I have 3 newer Koblentz machines in my collection VERY POWERFUL for "pancake" head machines.

Hey Rex I'm not sure but do know most Doctors would recommend the nilfisk to there patients who had allegies because they say they are the best at removing germs in the air. In fact my GS 80 has a GS90 motor on it as it did have a GS80 motor but the switch went bad and they are a pain to take apart so I just switch out the motor on it, but I do love my Nilfisk and You talk about power, You should see the power it has with the turbo brush it does as good of a job as a electric power nozzle. but as Fred was saying so many filters to change on them and they are quite quiet running.

Yes,When I used the Nilfisk the cleaning contractor had out here to clean out one of the transmitters for its "PM" session-the machine was very strong-even though its bag was somewhat full.Filled it even more-and the machine didn't mind the "greaseballs"that form from the grease that lubes the tune chains and drives-and mixes with the dust that gets pulled into the tranmsitter from its 15HP blower.I would beleive it about the Nilfisk as an air filter besides a vacuum cleaner-all air going thru the one I used was filtered.And there had to be SEVERAL pounds of dust and dirt in its very large bag.

Nilfisk is actually part of The Advance Group of commercial equipment manufacturers. They've become another one of those companies who makes quite a few different models for consumer use, but only choses to bring just a few of them to the U.S. I'd kill to get my hands on a Nilfisk King canister, but it wouldn't run on our voltage anyway. That would just be too frustrating.
