I really love my old Compact C-6, but it of course is not set up to have a power nozzle. The rug tool that is original with the machine is a bit of a B%^&$h to push around my carpets, so I started shopping for something new.

First, I was wandering around our local Wal-mart when I found an air driven upholstry nozzle. It works real well and is just the thing for my mattress and cat-fur covered sofa (we have two tabbies). Was also pleased with the price-under $20

I have never been a big fan of air driven power nozzles. Oh sure the little ones were OK for chairs and stairs, but the full size "turbo-nozzles' for carpets always left me, umm shall we say "limp". While air driven units I've played with in the past were always a lot of spinny, whizzy fun, they really didn't take me away with thier performance.

My attitude started to change when I saw the new Constellation. Hoover has never bothered with a turbo nozzle in the past is now including them with the new Connie. So I took a chance and ordered a "Turbomatic nozzle from Eureka's online store.

Let me tell you I LOVE this new nozzle! The turbo's I've seen in the past always had such a small opening at the turbine gate. The result was that you were cleaning with very little airflow-more like power carpet sweeping. This nozzle has a quite large opening so there is plenty of air moving thru this nozzle. In fact this nozzle actually grabs and lifts the carpet, much like an old Hoover. I am really quite amazed. It also has a strange clutching system in it, so the more "load" is applied to the brushroll, the faster the brush turns. Who doesn't love that kind of action? Also it has this neato pivot shoe that maintains contact with the carpet no matter what angle you hold the wands at.

The brushroll in this thing is small and rather sparsely populated. When this thing gets moving it does quite a good job however. You can really hear it churning, sweeping and do I dare say it? trying to beat the carpet as best as it can. Its no vibra-groomer, but for a wind powered device, you would swear there is a motor in there.

You will note the rubber ring I had to use to make this one fit on my wands, due to Sanitaire unique locking system. I may not have had to do this if I had got the Nutone version, but oh well it works.

I would highly recommend this device to anyone who wants to upgrade a straight suction canister. Even if you have an electric power nozzle, this one might be nice to get if you have to clean a lot of carpeted stairs.

There are now also some very cool battery operated power nozzles available from EIO and Miele. I chose not to get one because I only have three rugs to clean and could not justify the price of one of those

Miele has a pretty good turbo nozzle available. I have never had a canister that used a turbo nozzle though. My Miele's power nozzle has a similar brushroll, and it does a pretty decent job really.

How funny, I bought that same shop-vac turbo nozzle a few months ago to use with an old Kenmore Magic Blue I used to have--it worked great! The floor nozzle looks nice as well. I currently have the Miele version which looks similar on the underside. It also does a great job--I think the key is being well-designed, and of course, having a vacuum with enough grunt on the business end to drive it effectively.

I have to agree the miele turbo brush is awsome. I got one from ebay about a month ago to use with my brand new Bosch because bosch wanted like 149.00 for there turbo brush and got the miele for around 26.00. It does the job quite well.
